This publication is an output from a research project funded by the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID) for the benefit of developing countries.
The purpose of this document is to describe and justify how the various types of data collected by the project “Commercialization of non-timber forest products: factors influencing success” (CEPFOR) were analysed to support or refute the project’s research hypotheses. This document begins by providing a brief summary of the project’s background, research hypotheses and research approach. It then provides an overview of the specific data collection tools and sampling procedures for each. The different types of data analysis are then described with literature references and worked examples where possible.
This document was originally written to guide the project’s research and has been through many iterations during the course of the project. The current version presents the methods as they were carried out, indicating where – and why – changes were made to original plans.
