DSCN2348The Catalonia RSG is a forum for members to express their views and concerns on NWFPs.  It will also include networking and sharing of data and will inform the StarTree project by contrasting and verifying project results.

The RSG will assist in the dissemination of project results and will create a supportive atmosphere for innovation on NWFPs initiatives.  There will also be opportunities to facilitate knowledge transfer to forest managers and enterprises.

catalonia 3RSG2Poblet monastery hosted the third stakeholder meeting of StarTree on 13 April 2016. Technicians from the Catalan Forest Service, mycologists, experts in mushroom production and regulations, representatives from private and public forest owners, as well as of the mushroom and truffle industry gathered to discuss the latest advances within the StarTree project.

A regional case study", previously published mushroom yield models were combined with the national forest inventory and forest maps to predict the potential mushroom production of Catalonia.

In this new article, previously published mushroom yield models were combined with the national forest inventory and forest maps to predict the potential mushroom production of Catalonia. This article highlights the importance of NWFP on a Mediterranean region and calls for the development of strategic forest policies that take into account such a relevant asset.

The visit was part of the field trip to the region which took place during the StarTree Project Kick-off Meeting, held in Barcelona on 21-22 November 2012.
