Regional Case Studies
Across Europe there is a huge variation in forest types, forest landscapes, urbanisation, socioeconomic context and the importance of multi-purpose trees and NWFP. The StarTree Regional Case Studies (RCS) were selected to reflect this variation along a gradient from north to south, taking into account the development of the NWFP sector in addition to the wood sector, different socio-economic and policy contexts, and ecological characteristics.
- generate an overview of the NWFP sector at the regional and European level
- identify innovative approaches in management and use of MPT and NWFP
- are units for action research
- provide an excellent basis for stakeholder engagement, consultation and exchange of knowledge
- validation, disseminate and communicate the results of the project.
